ILEX seeks top Pro Bono Legal Executive

The search has begun to find the outstanding ILEX member who is committed to excellence in Pro Bono work.

The ILEX Pro Bono Award recognises the dedication and commitment of an outstanding Legal Executive who, during 2008, has contributed to the community through giving their time without charge to help others.

The winner will receive a commemorative trophy and a cheque for £750 to be donated to a charity of their choice, courtesy of Award sponsor, the Peverel Group.

Closing date for entries is 6 May 2009 and the Award will be presented to the winner at the prestigious ILEX Annual Presidential Lunch at the Commonwealth Club on Tuesday, 2 June 2009. Entry forms can be downloaded from the ILEX website.

The judges for the Award are:

• Rebecca Wilkie, Director, Bar Pro Bono Unit.
• Robert Musgrove, Chief Executive, Civil Justice Council.
• Keith Edgar, Managing Director, Peverel Management Services.

“We are looking for the outstanding individual who has gone that extra mile to deliver support where it is needed,” said ILEX President, Mark Bishop. “Pro Bono is an increasingly important part of the work our members do. Too often that work goes unnoticed and it is right that their skill and dedication is recognised.

“ILEX members are encouraged to provide their time and legal skills for free to individuals, charities and not-for-profit groups who would otherwise be left disadvantaged, and I would encourage anyone who is involved in helping those less fortunate to enter for this prestigious award.”
