IPS renamed CILEx Regulation
‘ILEX Professional Standards’ to become ‘CILEx Regulation’
20 March 2015
On 23 March 2015 ILEX Professional Standards (IPS) will change its name to CILEx Regulation.
The change follows parliamentary approval for IPS to award practice rights and authorise legal entities. The new name will reflect CILEx Regulation’s extended role as the regulator for Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) members, other specialist lawyers and legal businesses.
Chief executive, Ian Watson (pictured left), said: “Our new name better reflects the current and future direction of the organisation, to be the regulator of choice for Chartered Legal Executives, CILEx Practitioners and law firms looking for a regulatory model that suits their business model. We look forward to welcoming all specialist lawyers into regulation under the CILEx umbrella.”
Alan Kershaw, Chair of the IPS Board (pictured right), commented: “With the approval of new practice rights and legal entity authorisation IPS has enjoyed much success in recent times, and our new name, look and website are a reflection of the new direction the organisation has taken.”
The new company name, branding and website will be unveiled at an official launch event on Thursday, 26 March, at the London headquarters of Marsh, one of the UK’s leading insurance broker and risk management companies.
The launch will include speeches by Alan Kershaw, IPS Board Chair, as well as by Baroness Hayter. Now a member of the House of Lords, Baroness Hayter is a former chair of the Legal Services Consumer Panel.
