CILEx Statement on proposed job cuts in Courts
03 May 2018
A CILEx spokesperson said: “We are concerned at reports of planned job cuts in our Courts, and we ask HMCTS and the Ministry of Justice to urgently clarify the situation. Losing up to 40% of experienced courts staff at a time when the outcomes of the Court Reform programme will be far from certain would be presumptuous and risks irreparable disruption to the administration of justice in our country. Courts staff are critical to efficient case management and listing, and to be contemplating crude cuts in numbers at this point also risks the success of the various reforms by prematurely cutting personnel needed to manage automated and other processes.”
