Background information
The information outlined on this page relates to the CILEX Level 7 Chartered Legal Executive End Point Assessment (EPA) version 1.0. This apprenticeship is for apprentices working in a contentious area of law.
Key support resources
The Level 7 Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship (version 1.1) leads to the authorised title Chartered Legal Executive Litigator and Advocate.
The following document provides further details on what this means and the requirements of the EPA:
CILEX provide a range of support materials to apprenticeship training providers working with us.
You can get in touch us with for more details.
Timeframes and assessments
Training providers must register apprentices, providing provisional gateway dates, with CILEX a minimum of 6 months before the apprentice reaches the gateway.
The EPA for this apprenticeship has three components:
- Portfolio of Evidence against the relevant CILEX Regulation Standard
- Litigation and Advocacy Portfolio
- Advocacy Skills assessment (drafting and practical oral advocacy).
The Portfolio is incorporated in the CPQ Professional stage, a qualification that is mandated as part of the On-Programme Learning element of this apprenticeship. CPQ Professional Experience includes the Portfolio of Evidence required for the EPA and must be completed before reaching the Gateway stage. Following submission, the Portfolio of Evidence and Litigation and Advocacy Portfolio undergoes assessment by a CILEX Independent Assessor.
The Advocacy Skills assessment can only be achieved once the apprentice has achieved a Pass grade for components 1 and 2.
It’s expected that the full EPA process will take up to 14 weeks, starting from the confirmed Gateway date and concluding with the release of the results. This timeframe ensures a thorough review and evaluation of the EPA.
