Reforms to Leasehold Enfranchisement

CILEx response to the Law Commission consultation on reforming leasehold enfranchisement.  

With three-quarters of our surveyed members finding the current system more favourable to landlords than leaseholders, CILEx calls for reforms which can appropriately balance the interests of both parties in an equitable manner. In addition reforms should encourage streamlining of processes to achieve greater parity between leaseholders of flats and those of houses, but be cautious of the oversimplification that a ‘one size fits all’ approach could give rise to.
