Joint consultation on Associate Prosecutors

IPS and ILEX are consulting on an application being made under the Legal Services Act 2007 to become an Approved Regulator in respect of advocacy and litigation undertaken by ILEX members who are registered in the Associate Prosecutor grade.

Associate Prosecutor Members will be those members employed by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in the Associate Prosecutor grade. ILEX is already an approved regulator in respect of advocacy but not for the right to conduct litigation.

This consultation begins by outlining the nature of the application and providing a summary of the arrangements by which members will qualify as Associate Prosecutors. The consultation also outlines the Conduct and Practice Rules to which Associate Prosecutor Members will be subject.
