Voting Rights of Prisoners Detained Within the United Kingdom

This is the second stage of a consultation on prisoner’s voting rights.

The government’s consultation on prisoner voting rights was planned as a two-stage process. The first consultation paper was published on 14 December 2006, and closed on 7 March 2007. ILEX made submissions to the first stage.

This paper summarizes the responses to the first consultation, sets out the government’s view, and asks further questions for consultation on the options for prisoner voting rights.
